Steel and Metal
The production of iron steel & metal involves water cooling and the use of water in by-products separation. Cooling waters are inevitably contaminated with chemicals especially ammonia and cyanide. The waste streams are typically contaminated with various chemicals, complex organic compounds (ex. PAH) together with the different types of acids used in the conversion process of iron into finished products. Typically, to produce 1 metric ton of crude steel requires up to 150m³ of water. The removal of the contaminants and the recycling of water are crucial for steel & metal plants to meet the wastewater.
